What's up y'all! Welcome back ;) Today, what I'll be discussing with you guys is what FASFA is and how to apply. Learning what FASFA is and how it can benefit you is crucial information because it may determine what major you choose and/or what college you go...

What is FAFSA?

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the main purpose of FAFSA is to determine how much financial aid a student is eligible for, including both need-based and non-need-based aid.

Need-based Aid

Need-based is a type of financial aid that you can receive if you have financial need and meet other eligibility criteria. For example, a need-based grant might be awarded based on a student's low income.

Non-need based Aid

Non-need is a type of financial aid that may be awarded to a student who doesn't qualify for need-based aid. For example, a non- need-based grant might be awarded because a student's family has more income to contribute to paying for college.

Who’s Eligible for FAFSA?

The most common requirements to qualify for student aid include that you have financial need, are a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, and are enrolled in an eligible degree that your college provides. However, there are more eligibility requirements you must meet to qualify for federal student aid and these requirements are specific, based on the type of aid.

When and How to Apply for FAFSA?

To be considered for federal student aid for the 2022–23 award year, you need to complete a FAFSA form between Oct. 1, 2020(CT) on June 30, 2023
